Caesar Salad
A Salad Standard
This famous salad isn't named for the famous Roman, but rather a restaurant owner in Tijuana, Mexico. The most widely accepted story about its creation is that Caesar Cardini whipped it up in a hurry on July 4, 1924. Americans flocked to his restaurant in Mexico because it wasn’t affected by the prohibition laws of the time. July 4th was a particularly busy night that had his kitchen supplies running on empty. So Cardini improvised and impressed his customers. He even tossed the salad for his guests table-side, to add a dramatic flair!
