Broccoli florets are the very tops of the head of broccoli, often referred to as the crown. The crown is divided into small, bite sized pieces, called florets. They are often sold pre-cut, but you can easily prepare them yourself. No matter how you prepare them, Broccoli adds a delicious crunch and texture to any salad.

Carefully remove florets from a broccoli crown with a chef's knife. Break up the larger florets with your hands until they are small enough to eat in one bite. Florets can be served raw or blanched (boiled, then plunged into ice water to preserve crispness).
